At Bajeti Hub, we are deeply committed to fostering meaningful participation in the budgeting process, recognizing that citizen engagement is essential to effective governance. Over the past five years, this commitment has driven the establishment and growth of the Regional Budget Hubs—now a nationwide network of five thriving, region-based hubs that have delivered measurable impact and valuable lessons.
As a successful model for civic engagement in Kenya’s public finance sector, this research documents the Regional Budget Hubs’ journey highlighting their history, operational approach, key lessons, challenges, and successes, aiming to provide guidance and inspiration for other civil society organizations seeking to enhance citizen engagement.
